Job Title: Lower School PE Teacher
Department: Lower School PE
Reports to: Lower School Head of PE
Job Purpose:
The Lower School PE Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality physical education aligned with the school’s values and UK curriculum standards. The role includes managing and planning PE lessons, supporting student development, and promoting student well-being through active participation in the school’s sports and extracurricular programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Responsibilities:
- Promote the school’s ethos and set a high standard of behavior, dress, and punctuality for students.
- Establish strong relationships with parents and maintain open communication.
- Participate in school events and extracurricular activities, including residential and expedition programs.
- Take a share of duties and uphold school policies, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Curriculum Responsibilities:
- Deliver the PE curriculum based on the UK EYFS and National Curriculum guidelines.
- Plan and prepare lessons that cater to students of varying abilities, including those with special educational needs.
- Maintain formative and summative assessments, ensuring alignment with internal and external examination standards.
- Use ICT to support and enhance learning.
- Welfare and Discipline:
- Provide guidance and monitoring for students’ work and behavior.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Ensure health and safety policies are followed, both on and off school premises.
- Pastoral Responsibilities:
- Take an active interest in students’ well-being during curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Engage with House activities and personal development programs for students.
- Extracurricular Activities:
- Supervise and coach after-school activities and sports programs.
- Organize logistics for extracurricular events, including transportation and accommodation.
- Personal Development:
- Participate in annual performance reviews and seek professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with line managers to support career growth and professional development.
- Collegiality:
- Attend meetings and mentor new teachers as necessary.
- Take responsibility for cover schedules and supervise students during non-teaching periods.
- Work cooperatively as part of a team and support school-wide initiatives.

- Experience:
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
- Experience teaching children aged 4-11, with the ability to differentiate lessons for varied abilities.
- Proven experience in organizing extracurricular activities.
- Qualifications:
- Degree in Education and QTS/PGCE or equivalent.
- Specialism in PE with a proven track record of high-quality teaching and improving standards.
